WELCOME DENISE TRENT, FOR YOUR MEDICATION MANAGEMENT NEEDS
I have been a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2007 and have worked in psychiatry since 2004. Helping others get through hardships in their lives and gain control of their mental illness is my passion.
I have worked in many psychiatric settings and hold strongly to three main values: Honesty; Integrity; and compassion. I’m not here to judge you, but rather to meet you where you are on your journey and help you progress through your treatment goals. I consider it my life’s work to combat the ongoing stigma of mental illness.
I have experience working with all psychiatric conditions from depression, co morbid substance abuse to ADHD and thought disorders (psychosis). Patients would say I am quite adept at forming a pharmacological plan that keeps them stable and able to enjoy their lives. I get to know my patients and provide supportive, solution-focused therapy. I believe in holistic treatment and unconditional positive regard.
I have a strong background in trauma and am certified in EMDR and prolonged exposure. I have a special passion for the military community, having worked for the US Army for six years treating PTSD. I also understand the trials and tribulations that military wives face, having been one myself for sixteen years. In addition to my affiliation with the military, I have worked in outpatient practices, in the jail system and ran an inpatient forensic ward in one of the most difficult hospitals in Virginia.
Helping others is my passion and I hope that this will shine through at out first meeting.
