WELCOME DENISE TRENT, FOR YOUR MEDICATION MANAGEMENT NEEDS
Stacy is currently a resident in counseling having graduated from Old Dominion University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, August 2019. As a resident, she is working toward her LPC. In her work through internship and residency, she has worked with a variety of populations to include individuals - male, female, LGBTQ+; couples; and families, with a variety of presenting issues to include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, poor behavior, inattentiveness, poor time management, discord in relationship(s), and adjustment to life changes including job changes, moves, medical diagnoses, separation, and divorce. Stacy brings her own life experiences into her service as a clinician having worked in other industries and raising a family. Having always been a talker, through her education Stacy learned the art of listening.
She believes we all have choices and a responsibility for our actions, though understands it may not always be that simple.
Stacy is a solution-focused person, which has influenced her therapeutic approach; that is not to say she will solve all your problems. Stacy follows a Cognitive Behavioral approach, always person-centered, with influences from REBT, positive psychology, and existential theory. She sees sessions as organic, herself as a facilitator, and the client as the expert. She is not shy to challenge thinking and negative behaviors, only so that the client might consider what is working or what is not. Stacy will walk a path with you, whether it is lonely, grief stricken, stress laden, strife with anger, muddled with uncertainty, or rich with joy and happiness.
Stacy believes it is essential to support the client’s ability to live their fullest life today and to provide the tools to prosper on the road ahead. Stacy is humbled for the time spent with clients and considers every moment a gift.
“Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.” - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
